Frequently Asked Questions
Q: HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO FURNISH AND SERVICE HEARING AIDS AT NO ADDITIONAL COST?
A: Medicaid recognizes audiology services (including hearing aids and batteries) as an allowable expense. Residents will receive a credit from Medicaid through their Social Security payment to completely pay for the service.
Q: MY DAD WON’T WEAR THE PAIR HE HAS. HE SAYS THEY DON’T WORK ANYWAY.
A: What we have found in most cases is that hearing aids are either out of date or need to be tuned/adjusted as hearing ability changes. With Mobile Care Audiology’s services and state of the art hearing aids, resident’s hearing dramatically improves leading to increased use.
Q: HOW DO I KNOW THE HEARING AIDS THAT I RECEIVE MEET HIGH STANDARDS OF QUALITY?
A: Mobile Care Audiology has ties with all of the leading manufacturers of hearing aids throughout the world. Unlike most conventional audiology offices, Mobile Care Audiology is not limited to any one brand or product, so our Audiology staff can present a myriad of options that are best suited for the individual.
Q: MY MOTHER HAS DEMENTIA AND WILL JUST LOSE THEM.
A: With Mobile Care Audiology, residents will get up to Ten (10) replacement sets at no charge.
Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CONDITION REQUIRES REFERRAL TO AN ENT?
A: Mobile Care Audiology can refer you out to local ENT’s in the community or can refer you to an ENT of your choosing.
Q: MY DAD SAYS HE HEARS JUST FINE AND DOESN’T WANT THESE SERVICES
A: Although many seniors feel their hearing is adequate, many times it is not the case. Many seniors cannot hear what are called “high resonant sounds,” such as “th”, “f”, and “r”, etc. This prevents them from understanding what is being said, and eventually can lead to irreversible hearing loss if not addressed.
Q: WHO WILL CHANGE THE BATTERIES?
A: Mobile Care Audiology providers will assist nursing home staff with replacement batteries and can work with the family as well.
